Here’s the latest installment of Messages from the Cosmos! 💫*
This channeled, free-written piece is titled ‘The Last Time I Danced,’ and it was written in 2021 during a Natalie Goldberg writing workshop, ‘Wild Mind’ style. The only guideline was to write non-stop for five minutes, in response to the prompt: “Tell us about the last time you danced…”
My original plan was to also provide an accompanying video of myself dancing freely, because I LOVE dancing so much, and yet I still haven’t written about my deep connection to dancing here in ‘Heart 💖 Songs’!
But, as so often happens in life — things didn’t go quite as planned. 😉
Last week, I was ringing in the beginning of the new Omega season with fellow staff members at our staff dance party. During the big musical break of Don’t Stop Believin’ I took one too many leaps, landed on my foot wrong, and the whole thing rooooollllled hard. Yikes.
I am currently hobbling around on a fun, pink and silver flower-patterned cane, and trying to alternate between ice and compression and mild massage.
It’s getting slowly less painful every day, so it seems my foot is well on its way to fully healing (sometimes I have to make educated guesses about these kinds of things, because I have no health insurance 😅)
Despite the fact that my plans were totally blown, and I can’t create a freewheeling, improvised dance piece channeled from the cosmos…I can’t help but feel deeply GRATEFUL.
How amazing is it that, before I injured my foot, I had a fully-functioning, healthy body that allowed me to freely move however I wanted.
I am so lucky to have a happy, healthy body.
I am so lucky that I can dance whenever I feel moved.
And in a week or so, I’m hoping I can go back to dancing the way I used to (though, I may have to lay off the leaps for a bit 😉).
The art of dance has reminded me that the practice of Gratitude is a deeply impactful practice in my life. I’m so thankful for this.

*As is the convention for Messages from the Cosmos pieces, this was a free-written piece that was channeled in the moment, my pen never leaving the paper, never once stopping to correct a “mistake.” The piece is meant to be shared and read aloud, rather than read silently as text, so I’m sharing it here in video format.
